Adopt an Otter

European otters are considered to be “Near Threatened” which means that although their range is increasing, particularly in Britain, the population is still fragile. Numbers could easily collapse as they did in the past mainly through hunting, the use of industrial & agricultural pesticides and habitat destruction.

Every adoption will help to provide funds for our Otters & Rivers Project Officer to carry out improvements to riverbanks, build artificial otter homes for otters to rest and breed in and to work with landowners to improve the river corridors so that otters can move around the county more easily.

By adopting an otter with Surrey Wildlife Trust you will be contributing to our vital conservation work and helping to protect this charismatic animal.

Adopt an otter packs cost £18.50 (incl. p&p) and include a personalised adoption certificate, otter fact sheet, FSC Guide to British Land Mammals, and an otter soft toy, photograph, sticker and badge. Recipients also receive two newsletters a year on how their money helps support the Otters & Rivers Project.
