Volunteer Members Appeal

Surrey Wildlife Trust needs your help with a really important, but often overlooked, aspect of our work. Volunteers.......they are the lifeblood of Surrey Wildlife Trust. We simply could not achieve everything we do without them.

Just last year, our volunteers donated over 3,000 days of their valuable time. Their work helped us to maintain and improve the condition of our precious wildlife habitats and monitor populations of dormice, otters, water voles and other threatened species.

Currently, we can only run standard weekday volunteer work parties from our HQ in Pirbright which means the majority of our conservation work is carried out in the West of the County. There is increasing demand, but the lack of transportation means we are unable to accommodate further work parties.

We desperately need to establish a volunteer base in East Surrey so that we can expand our volunteer programme and offer new opportunities to local volunteers. This will increase the amount of overall conservation work carried out and will particularly benefit Reserves that currently see little activity. We need to buy the tools and equipment needed for staff and volunteers to work safely. We also need to purchase a minibus so we are able to transport volunteers to our Reserves which will reduce our environmental impact and enable us to access countryside areas where there is little or no parking.

But, all this will cost us £25,000. Can you help us?

Our volunteers do an amazing amount of conservation work every day and make a huge contribution. It is so frustrating knowing we could be doing much more if we only had the tools and support. Please help us if you can. Thank you.

In addition to a new minibus, we also need to buy
tools:
• £50 will buy a spade.
• £20 will buy a pair of loppers.
• £10 will buy a pair of fencing pliers.

Your donation will make a huge difference.

Please send your donation to: Grace Moran, Volunteer Appeal, SWT, FREEPOST (GI2355), School Lane, Pirbright, Woking, Surrey GU24 0BR.

You can donate online through www.charitychoice.co.uk and, although normally used for general donations, any donations received in July and August will be allocated to this appeal.
